Oudry Four Seasons French Wall Tapestry

    Four Seasons, or Les Quatre Saisons, is a French woven jacquard wall tapestry based on the work by J.B. Oudry (1686-1755). This scene is an elegant example of a new ideal among 18th century tapestry makers to make their tapestries, seen from a distance, look like paintings. At left This scene is populated with idealized representations of the seasons Spring and Summer. Hay and sycle are piled artfully to display the harvest. A flock of spring lambs and their herd dog appear before a farmhouse....

      One of a set of tapestries called- Artemisia, queen of antiquity, woven for Marie de Medicis in Paris in the early XVII century and now part of the Mobilier National. The Heralds, or messengers, tell the people the Artemisia has decided to call the assembly.

      Blason European Pillow Cover

        Blason, French for "shield" is a Belgian impressionist tapestry pillow cover piece inspired by the original herald of Scotland prior to King James I (VI to Scotland) who replaced the unicorn on the left with the lion as a gesture of unity between his new kingdom, England and his home kingdom Scotland. Blason is jacquard woven, the backed lining is of a plush velvet with an invisible zipper closure that allows easy placement and removal of pillow inserts.
