King Sigismund Augustus of Poland, later to become Emperor, commissioned these impressive tapestries from Michiel Coxcie of Mechelen in the mid 16th century. They were moved back and forth to several countries, mainly due to wars. This is a brand new tapestry reproduction.

This tapestry was inspired from a tapestry woven at the Royal Beauvais Workshops in the 19th century. The Beauvais Manufacture was founded by Colbert, Prime Minister to King Louis XIV in 1661.
